A small crown is stamped on top of the barrel between the rear sight and the breech, this may indicate an 1896 chamber conversion to 11.5 mm smokeless cartridges. Serial number “45369” and a crown are stamped on the left facet of the breech. A long-range, full folding rear sight rests atop the barrel breech. The 34” round barrel is secured to the walnut stock via three barrel bands with barrel retaining springs. About 30,000 of these rolling block rifles were made at the Danish Arsenal at Copenhagen 1870-1908, under license from Remington.Ĭhambered for a rimfire 11.7 x 41.5 mm round, the rifle exhibits the large action with a high spur hammer and a projecting ear-like lever on the right side of breech block. These rifles employed an interlocking system of hammer and breech that was deemed one of the strongest actions of its time.
